<lj:music>Alicia Keys - Lesson Learned</lj:music>

I've learned my lesson. From what can only be described as a moment out of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. I had an uncontrollable craving last night for an omelette. Not a "man, I just got high and I need this one particular thing to eat" like in said movie. More like a "man, I'd love an omelette and I don't want to have to make it or buy eggs later on" kind of craving. So, I proceeded to go to Waffle House. I drove into the one by Ricky's apartment.

Now, I stop to explain the situation with my recent run at Waffle House. The past two trips before last night, I've been able to bear witness to nothing but drama. I've seen two staff members get into one night while Toya, Jen, and I were waiting on our food. The next time, Toya and I just about got suck into an altercation between a customer and waitress.

So, I pass through that Waffle House and it's slam packed. So, I go to the other Waffle House on the other side of the Interstate. I get there and it's about 1:45. I think I finally got a seat at 2:10. I takes my waitress another ten minutes to get my order. So, as I finally order and wait for my food, I notice a bunch of dudes congregate near the bathroom and then it happens. The fight breaks out, black guys and a couple of white guys get it on....for what I don't know. I'm halfway laughing because every girl in the place is running out of the door, the waitresses are trying to get this tall cook to break up the fight and he proceeds to take his time walking over there. Everyone is fighting and running and I'm just sitting there, trying to get my omelette. So, the cops show up the fight ends and suddenly my waitress gets pissed at the other staff and walks out, throws the pad with my order on in onto the ground. To make matters worse, the tall cook starts getting into it with a customer who was upset with the cook for apparently getting into his face when he was trying to escort the brawlers outside (the middle-age gentlemen took offense to being pushed by one of the brawlers and didn't receive an apology, but who the hell is gonna apologize to anyone after they just got into a fight with someone else). So, the cook storms outside and proceeds to get into an altercation with some of the brawler's friends outside the restaurant. Another waitress tries to get him back inside and she nearly gets her head taken off for her efforts. At this point I know I'm not getting my food. So, I leave. As I walk out I stop to tell my waitress that walked out, "Well, that was a waste of an hour of my life", and she responds, "I told you."

Get in the car and go to the 98 Waffle House. It's packed in this one, but no drama and lots of security. The wait wasn't quite as long, I couldn't wait all freaking night, but now it was about 2:30. I think I finally ordered around 3:15. I grew increasingly paranoid as time went by and the food that I desire was not on my plate. I was just waiting for the next fight to jump off or staff to walk out. I did have to endure watching the cook mess up my omelette and not put sausage in it. So it's about 3:30 and I finally get my omelette and it was good, exactly what I wanted, it took me all of five minutes to each my plate, paid the waitress and went home.

My two vital mistakes that I made in this situation are as follows: 1) I went out to Waffle House at 1:30-ish in the morning. 2) I went to Waffle House at 1:30-ish in the morning on a club night. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! I think I'm swearing off Waffle House for a long time, this was just ridiculous, don't know what the hell I was thinking except I was hungry and needed a damn omelette. But, I did have fun describing my frustration to the people sitting around me and they enjoyed the hilarity of the situation. So, this is my one post for the next three months. Discuss amongst yourself.

So here goes my once in like three months post......

My dad has been in the hospital for the past four days. He found out that his kidneys were only functioning at 16%. We found out definitely on Sunday that he will have to undergo dialysis for at least three months after which time he will be put on the list for a kidney donor. Our family is already lining up to have the tissue testing done to determine if one of us is a close enough match for Dad. I personally hope that I am a close enough match. Ben is an option as well as Mom and our other relatives, but since I'm his first biological son, I'd figure that I'd be the closest match, I think Ben agrees with that theory considering he and I had a similar discussion last night at E.J.'s football game. My dad is in great spirits, very much ready to go home, he doesn't like to lay around for too long. So please keep my dad and family in your thoughts and prayers. I know how strong my dad is so, I don't think this will keep him down emotionally, mentally, or spiritually for long. I'm out.

Yesterday Toya and I went and purchased our new car!!!!! (cue Price is Right music). A 2003 Pontiac Vibe. It's so nice, Red, alloy rim, remote keyless entry, power sunroof, CD player w/ a decent sound system, hatchback w/ cargo room in the back, fold-down rear seats. Nice working AC and Heat nice amount of leg room. For only $10,995. Everything kinda just fell into place yesterday for getting this car. We went down to the dealership in Gulfport to check out the car, a black guy greats us, we walked to the Vibe and asked him the price they wanted for it, which he responded $12,995. After he said that, we told him that Toya had talked to another guy, named Kirby last week about the car, so he stepped aside to let him finish the sale, but we had to wait for him to come back. But while we waited, Toya remembered that the price they asked for the car last week was $11,995. So, the guy said he had to honor the price. So we test-drove the car, it's got a nice little bit of horsepower and acceleration for a 4-cylinder. The brakes needed some work in the front which they are going to fix. We came back from test driving it, Mr. Kirby was there, so we talked to him, I asked him if the car was the same one advertised online for $10,995. He really wasn't completely sure, but agreed to honor that price. So in just 10 mins. of actually talking to salespeople, I got the price down $2,000. So, we got the told price for the car which was just over $11,000 and head to Keesler.

I love my bank no question about it. Not only was I about to get approved for the loan for the car in just a little over an hour, we both have our names on the car, I got a great interest rate (5.25%), life (if an immediate family member dies, the bank will pay the note off completely) and disability insurance (in case I can't work or am injure for thirty days the bank will cover the note) as well as Gap protection (in the event, the car is totaled, if the insurance gives me less money for the car than what I owe the bank, Keesler will pay the difference) for 48 months for only $249/month. And I didn't need a co-signer. My dad was proud of us for handling everything on our own and being on top of my game for haggling the price down two g's. In his words, "Damn son, you took notes well." I responded, "I told you I was a quick learner." So yeah, the car is nice. I'm so happy that we have two working cars again, now it's time to give my car some loving (i.e tune-up, new tires, rear brakes, front-end alignment, and a bath). Since, I hope to keep it running for another year. Haven't taken pictures yet, but gonna post the pictures of it from the dealer for now.

This Christmas was very good to my family and myself. Ny got like almost $400 worth of clothes, toys, and DVDs for Christmas. She got toys from freaking everyone, my parents, Toya and myself, her aunts, my grandparents, Ny's grandmother (Toya's mom). Toya got me a new hat and Marvel Ultimate Alliance on PS2. And Toya and I got engaged. I'm sure she'll post the pictures of the ring online in the next couple of days. She was so happy and so was both of our families for us. Toya enjoyed going to Houston which made the trip all the more easy for me. It was a great Christmas, one of the best for me in my book.

This new LJ post comes to you live from my new Compaq laptop. I decided to trade in my old reliable Toshiba in favor of this very attractive laptop bundle they had at Wal-Mart for blitz today. I paid one extra dollar for the bundle which included a Compaq laptop, All-in-one HP printer, a mouse, and speakers. The main reason I did this is so Toya would have a printer for her computer. See aren't I a sweet boyfriend.

Now with this new laptop, I can get started on my 8-page paper that is due on Tuesday, since I called in today to watch over Toya and babysit Ny I've got some time to burn.
My anniversary was very nice, I know Toya wanted to spend more time together for our anniversary, I still think it was nice regardless how much we spent. We got a room at the Beau Rivage which looks absolutely gorgeous since the storm. We ate breakfast at this beautiful cafe downstairs in the lobby. The three pancakes that Toya got on her plate were about as big as five or six freaking pancakes. As you could imagine, she couldn't finish all of them. The room was so freaking sweet, big king size bed, deep bathtub, separate glass stand-up shower. Yeah, we had a very nice time. I bought her a necklace pendant and she got me Happy Gilmore because she couldn't afford Volume 2 of Futurama.

The trip to visit Dustin was extremely hilarious. Our soon-to-become yearly pilgrimage to visit Dustin is not aptly title "Sausage Fest", don't ask we've all known each other for a long time and can get away with saying these kinds of things to each other. It was good to see Dustin and Lisa again, see their doing fine and hang out with my boy cause we're all still like family. Now back to the old grind go back to work tomorrow. Don't want to go...
Probably the most interesting day of golf I've had. At the Par 4, 14th hole, I got my first par ever!!!!!!! First shot was in the woods, found the ball, had to move it because it was unplayable (but at first thought a ball I found was mine, but it wasn't, mine was in the bottom of a bush), second shot nailed it with hybrid club 160 years about 25 feet from the flag, third shot beautiful chip about 15 feet from the pin, and fourth shot was a straight beautiful putt for par. Hooray for me!!!!!

Interesting stuff on the course, I played my whole round through the rain that started around the 9th hole. I splashed mud in my face on a shot on the 7th hole. On the same hole, caught a glimpse of three deer grazing across the hole. Saw a crane on the back nine. And busted my ass on sixteen coming off the green.

My team just can't buy a win, but I will say my rookie quarterback, Bruce Gradkowski, was pretty damn good yesterday, only one real mistake with the fumble, but two touchdowns was very impressive. Defense has to tackle a hell of a lot better, and the offense has to cut down on the penalties (i.e. the offensive pass interference on 3rd and 4). Cadillac got going finally, hopefully that will carry over to next week.

In other news: "Picture this"....You are at the driver's license place getting your license renewed, you know you have to take a new picture for it. You inexplicably leave your house with rollers in you hair, because you are in a hurry for some other engagement. Do you A) be late for your engagement and take the rollers out of your hair, or B) look stupid for the next four years on your driver's license. I hope you didn't do like my customer the other day and pick B.
